Programs
The Friends provide financial support and volunteers for the following programs:
World Wide Knit in Public Day: People come from all over to knit in public. Blankets, hats, and scarves are donated to foster kids, newborns, people transitioning from homeless into housing, and other people needing assistance
Summer Reading Program: Children earn points for reading and completing activities. Prizes at the end.
Spanish Book Club
Day of the Dead: Celebrates life and death and honors those deceased with colorful altar exhibits, poetry readings, sugar skull making, Folklorico and Aztec dancing, Mariachi music, face painting.
The Friends host community events:
First Friday movies for adults at $2.00 or free with membership
Author Events
Downtown Architectural Walking tours every Saturday at 10:00 am starting at the train depot and ending at the Michael Graves designed post-modern San Juan Capistrano library.
The Friends support Library Events:
Tuesday Storytime includes stories, songs, movement, and activities to help children prepare for and succeed in school.
