Bookstore Donation Guidelines


The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for the San Juan Capistrano Public Library. Your gift keeps your libraries stocked, accessible and innovative!  We will acknowledge your gift with a tax receipt.


 

What Do We Accept?

  • Books (hardbacks, paperbacks; fiction, non-fiction - all categories including children's)

  • Computer manuals, especially with software

  • Audiobooks, Records, Tapes, CDs, Videos, DVDs

  • Puzzles

  • Sheet music, Art prints


 

What We Don’t Accept

  • Encyclopedias

  • Games

  • Law books

  • Magazines

  • Mildewed items (if you wouldn't give it to a friend, don't give it to the Friends)

  • Readers Digest condensed books

  • Text books 


Look for the blue donation bin adjacent to the Bookstore. If you require assistance to unload your vehicle, please call (949) 493-2688 for an appointment. For large donations, call the Bookstore at (949) 493-2688. Pick-ups may be arranged, depending on availability of volunteers. Books must be boxed.



Tips on Boxing Books:

 To avoid damaging books, please stack flat & place books horizontally rather than vertically. Please don’t stack higher than the top of the box. No oversized boxes please. Lifting books in boxes larger than a medium sized box is challenging for our volunteers.
